Happy Thanksgiving

Dear New Castle Area School District Staff, Students, and Families:

As we break from school for the Thanksgiving holiday, I wanted to take a few minutes to reflect on the first 10 weeks of school. I have visited several classrooms and seen a safe, loving, and learning environment for all students. Every day dedicated New Castle Area School District staff provides the safest learning environment for all our students, and we, as a District, are committed to continually focusing on supporting students and their families during the school day and beyond.

I believe the success of our school system is built on the foundation of mutual respect by the students, staff, and parents, and I am thankful that the New Castle Area School District continues to strive for excellence in each and every classroom, to grow stronger by our diversity, and to cultivate and continue a positive school climate.  My best wishes to all of you for a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Eight New Castle Sr. High students recently auditioned at Westminster College for the PMEA Honors Band Festival, where they competed against students from 32 other schools from Lawrence, Butler, Beaver, and Mercer counties.  Of those eight that auditioned, three students qualified for the Festival that will be held November 29th - December 1st:  Raven Chappell (12 grade), Anton Green (11th Grade), and Paydon Greathouse (9th grade).

Congratulations and best of luck to Raven, Anton, and Paydon! #NC proud!

stop the bleed

Stop the Bleed

At the teacher in-service on November 6th, Philip Rozic from UPMC presented the Stop the Bleed initiative to all NCASD faculty and staff. We are now more prepared than ever to administer live-saving measures should our district ever face an emergency. We would like to extend our gratitude to Mr. Rozic, UPMC, the New Castle Fire Department, the New Castle Police Department, and STAT MedEvac. Please click HERE to view photos from the training.

Identifying Grief Symptoms in Children

Like adults, children can be deeply affected by loss and grief experiences.  While everyone has different ways of grieving, there are common grief reactions in children.  Please click HERE for more information on these common grief reactions and other "red flag" behaviors brought on by loss and grief.
