George Washington Intermediate School
It has been a tremendous first month of school and we hope that your child has found comfort in the routines that each new school year brings. The day to day activities should be familiar to your student by this time of the year. However, if your child is still experiencing any opening day anxiety you are welcome to contact Mr. Antuono, Mrs. Marino or your child’s teacher. We will be happy to set up a meeting or talk to you on the phone. Together, we can discuss ideas that will create a more comfortable environment for your child at school. We are here to help!
This school year, George Washington has kicked off a new era in our 5th grade hallways. This initiative is off to a great start, and we are excited about the possibilities that 1:1 brings to our school. Recently, we hosted a couple events to showcase our 1:1 initiative. Parents and Guardians were invited to attend a 1:1 Parent Night. They were able to learn more about the program and experience learning through the lens of our students using the technology. In addition, representatives from NISL and superintendents throughout the state of Pennsylvania visited George Washington to observe our 1:1 initiative. It’s safe to say, that our teachers and students impressed our guest by showcasing the 6C’s of 21st century learning (Communication, Collaboration, Creativity, Connectivity, Computing, and Critical Thinking). This technology places the world at our student’s fingertips and into our classrooms. Thank you so much for visiting our school. Please come back and see us again. In the future 1:1 will help us personalize learning and eventually create flipped classrooms.
October promises to be another busy month at George Washington. On October 5th we will hold our first PTO meeting in the cafeteria at 6:30 p.m. We look forward to meeting the parents/guardians and anyone who is available to join us. The faculty and staff also invites you to join us at our annual Open House, which has been scheduled for Tuesday, October 10th for grades 3 and 4 and Wednesday, October 11th for grades 5 and 6. Both events will take place from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. We look forward to seeing all of you at school.
At George Washington we want all students to get a great education. With policies and procedures established, our focus is on instruction; therefore, we want to thank all parents and guardians for their commitment of bringing their child to school every day. Good attendance at school is the first step to academic success. When students are in school they receive the benefits of instruction and grow academically. Please continue to send your child to school unless they are too ill to attend.
If you have any additional questions or concerns our door is always open. Thank you so much for sharing your students with us.
