GW students Keara Mangieri and Miley Anderson traveled to CCAC in Pittsburgh to show off their coding skills.  They were joined by Mrs. Mozzocio and Mr. Englehart.  At the event the students and teachers presented on flexible seating and coding.  Keara and Miley worked with Mrs. Mozzocio to design a rotating device that lit up and moved to music using Makey Makey.  They also constructed a guitar using Makey Makey that people could interact with and play.  The night was a huge success and we were excited to share about the great things happening in GW classrooms!

The students in Mrs. DeSalvo’s class have been busy learning about the life cycle of a turkey.  As part of the unit Ms. Christine Mullins performed an experiment from her childhood with the students using eggs and vinegar.  The students made “rubber eggs.”During the experiment a chemical reaction occurs and the vinegar dissolves the calcium carbonate shell creating the appearance of a rubber like egg.  The students observed the eggs for four days and charted what was happening to the eggs each day.
