The third annual Lawrence County Forensics Tournament was held on Wednesday, February 6th at Northminster Church. Mohawk, New Wilmington, and Hermitage hosted this meet. The speech competition categories were dramatic duo, informative speeches, extemporaneous speaking, and impromptu. The following New Castle students placed in the tournament: 

 

In the senior high division, Ashia Holloway won first place for her impromptu speech; Sara Bracken won second place for extemporaneous speaking and third place for impromptu.  Nathaniel Zeiger won third place for his informative speech, while Elliot Palmer won third place for his impromptu presentation.

In the junior high division, Lexi Thompson won first place for her impromptu speech, and Francis Shon won second place. In dramatic duo oral, Jordon Essinger and Concetta Pounds won second place, while Ava Jevcak and Jayme Stiger won third.
