FAFSA Workshop Information

Please read the following information!  This can help make this workshop successful for families and students.

  • Encourage parents to bring the student applicant to the workshop. The FAFSA has a student section that needs to be completed and signed by the student using the student’s FSA ID.
  • Use the following resources to help determine which parent(s) needs to contribute information to the student’s FAFSA:
  • Students need to create their FSA ID at least 4 days in advance of the workshop.  Any contributor of information to the FAFSA such as a parent(s) also need to create an FSA ID at least 4 days in advance of the workshop.  You can direct them to studentaid.gov/fsa-id to create an FSA ID. The FSA ID can be applied for now. However, Parent(s) that have an FSA ID that they previously used, should log into studentaid.gov/fsa-id  as they may need to update their password.
  • At the workshop, students and parents will need to have access to text messages and personal email accounts. When students and parents use their Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID to log in to the online FAFSA, it will require a two-step verification process.  Each time an FSA ID is used to log in, a one-time code is delivered via email, text message, or an authenticator app.
