Due to the high number of COVID cases in Lawrence County,  the NCASD will remain in the Virtual Learning Model until December 11th, as it is the recommendation of the Department of Health is to stay virtual until the County has two consecutive weeks designated in the Moderate Phase.  Thank you!

If your student is in 6th grade and you need help with technology or Sapphire the 6th grade office is here to help!
Instead of emailing or calling the help desk, start with contacting our 6th grade office first. We will work to assist you and answer your technology and Sapphire questions.

SAPPHIRE Parent Portal ... Quick Tips & Q&A
Please note, it is important for you to sign up for a Sapphire Parent Portal. Below are some tips and answers to common questions we have received in the 6th grade office.

1.  How do I know how to sign-up for this portal?
Instructions to sign-up for a parent portal can be found in many places:
  1. Instructions were mailed home in our Hybrid Letter & Letter is also posted on the 6th Grade Website
  2. Instructions were posted in each HR Google Classroom
  3. Instructions are included in our 6th Grade September/October Newsletter
  4. Instructions were posted by Mrs. DeBlasio on the main page of the NCASD website 
2.  I can not locate any of the communicated instructions listed above ... what are the quick steps to sign-up for a Parent Portal Account?
  1. Go to:   WWW.NCASD.COM
  2. Click on:  Sapphire Community Portal (left side of screen in red box)
  3. Click on:  Community Portal (middle of screen in the green box)
  4. Click on:  Create a Web Portal Account (it is a blue sentence on the screen)
  5. Fill out Application & Submit
3.  What Happens Once I complete the Application?
The application will be sent to our office and we will approve it. Once the application is approved you will be emailed a PIN from Sapphire. (Check your spam if you do not see it in your inbox)

4. What if I apply multiple times for an account?
Multiple accounts in the same person's name/email will be declined. To avoid duplicating accounts, we will re-email you the PIN to the existing approved account.

5.  What if my 6th grade student is not visible on my parent portal but once was?
Contact the office, we can assist with this

Return to School - HYBRID / VIRTUAL INFORMATION for 6th Grade

HYBRID/VIRTUAL WILL NOT START NOVEMBER 4TH - HOWEVER, PLEASE KEEP THE MAILING BELOW; 
We will use the bell schedule below when we start the Hybrid/Virtual Learning Model. 

Until we move to the Hybrid/Virtual Learning Model, 
PLEASE USE THE BELL SCHEDULE THAT WE HAVE BEEN USING SINCE THE START OF SCHOOL. 

Please check the note in your Homeroom Teacher's Google Classroom regarding a change to special classes that will begin November 4th.

Please remember to sign up for your SAPPHIRE PARENT PORTAL. The instructions are in the attached letter. Bus information, grades, locker information, and managing your student's contacts & account are all found on your Sapphire Parent Portal.

Alexander Memorial Trust Fund for providing every 6th Grade student with a package of school supplies for students to complete projects and assignments during virtual learning. You have put many smiles on our students' faces and our teachers are excited to plan fun projects for our students while they are learning from home. 

Welcome Back 2020-2021 Mailing

6th Grade Parent / Guardians:
Please check your mailboxes for information regarding 6th Grade back to school and virtual learning. The following were included in your mailing:
  1. Welcome Letter with information about Virtual Learning
  2. Virtual Bell Schedule

  5. Agreement for use of Equipment Waiver (to complete if you are picking up a device)

Important Dates To Remember:
AUGUST 25, 2020:  
*Device & Materials Pickup.  9:00AM-2:00PM. Hurricane Drive.
*If you do not need a device, please still come. We prepared a bag of school supplies for all 6th grade students to use for assignments and projects during virtual learning. 
*Please identify if your child is in Mrs. Reider's or Mr. Cubellis' homerooms; your child will receive additional ELA materials along with the school supply bag. 
*If you do need a device, fill out the waiver mailed to you in your welcome packet and bring it to distribution day.
AUGUST 26, 2020:
*Accelerated Virtual Meet & Greet with Mrs. Reider & Mr. Cubellis (letter previously mailed home to students in these classes)
AUGUST 31, 2020:
*First Day of School For Students

6th Grade Device & Materials Distribution - DATE CHANGE

DATE CHANGE ...
6th Grade Device & Materials Distribution has been rescheduled to TUESDAY, AUGUST 25, 2020 from 9:00AM - 2:00PM.  
The distribution will be at the Junior/Senior High School on Hurricane Drive. 

If you do not need a device, please still come to distribution, as all 6th Grade students will receive a bag of school supplies to complete projects and assignments during virtual learning.  Please identify if your child is in Mrs. Reider's or Mr. Cubellis' homerooms; your child will receive additional ELA materials along with the school supply bag.

The above save the date was sent home with students on September 16.  Additional information will be sent home prior to November 20.  We are looking forward to seeing you at our Harvest House Warming Open House!  Students are welcome to attend, but must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. 
 
 

Spirit Week 9/30/19-10/4/19

6th Grade will be participating in SPIRIT WEEK.  Spirit Week will be September 30-October 4. Please see below for the theme for each day.  Dress code bottoms are required each day.

  • Monday:  College / Sports Jersey Day

  • Tuesday:  Throwback Tuesday 70s, 80s, 90s

  • Wednesday:  Super Heroes (no masks)

  • Thursday:  Flock Day - Get a group of friends together and dress alike

  • Friday:  Pink Out
