Accelerated Placement Exams Students Grade 6 to 7

Placement exams for students currently in 6th grade to have the opportunity to qualify for accelerated courses in 7th grade.  

F2F Students:  May 26 & 27, V Students: May 26

If your student is currently Virtual and you would like your student to take these placement exams to have the opportunity to qualify for accelerated courses for the 7th grade school year, click HERE to register your student by Monday, May 24th to test in the building on Wednesday, May 26th. (Do not fill out if you do not want your student to come in and test - this is optional-however, if you want your student considered for accelerated courses, your student must test)

  3. Attendance is important on the above date(s) if you would like your student to have the opportunity to test.

African-American History Poster/Writing Contest

6th Grade Students:
All students (Groups A, B, & V) can participate in the African-American History Poster/Writing Contest!
If you are a virtual student and you do not have the 12x18 Construction Paper for the Poster or Paper for the Essay, we have it available for you. You are welcome to pick up the supplies at the security desk.  
All information and details will be provided in your Writing Classrooms!

SAPPHIRE Parent Portal ... Quick Tips & Q&A
Please note, it is important for you to sign up for a Sapphire Parent Portal. Below are some tips and answers to common questions we have received in the 6th grade office.
1.  How do I know how to sign-up for this portal?
Instructions to sign-up for a parent portal can be found in many places:
  1. Instructions were mailed home in our Hybrid Letter & Letter is also posted on the 6th Grade Website
  2. Instructions were posted in each HR Google Classroom
  3. Instructions are included in our 6th Grade September/October Newsletter
  4. Instructions were posted by Mrs. DeBlasio on the main page of the NCASD website 
2.  I can not locate any of the communicated instructions listed above ... what are the quick steps to sign-up for a Parent Portal Account?
  1. Go to:   WWW.NCASD.COM
  2. Click on:  Sapphire Community Portal (left side of screen in red box)
  3. Click on:  Community Portal (middle of screen in the green box)
  4. Click on:  Create a Web Portal Account (it is a blue sentence on the screen)
  5. Fill out Application & Submit
3.  What Happens Once I complete the Application?
The application will be sent to our office and we will approve it. Once the application is approved you will be emailed a PIN from Sapphire. (Check your spam if you do not see it in your inbox)

4. What if I apply multiple times for an account?
Multiple accounts in the same person's name/email will be declined. To avoid duplicating accounts, we will re-email you the PIN to the existing approved account.

5.  What if my 6th Grade student is not visible on my parent portal but once was?
Contact the office, we can assist with this

Alexander Memorial Trust Fund for providing every 6th Grade student with a package of school supplies for students to complete projects and assignments during virtual learning. You have put many smiles on our students' faces and our teachers are excited to plan fun projects for our students while they are learning from home.

Please check your mailboxes for information regarding 6th Grade back to school and virtual learning. The following were included in your mailing:

Important Dates To Remember:
AUGUST 25, 2020:  
*Device & Materials Pickup.  9:00AM-2:00PM. Hurricane Drive.
*If you do not need a device, please still come. We prepared a bag of school supplies for all 6th grade students to use for assignments and projects during virtual learning. 
*Please identify if your child is in Mrs. Reider's or Mr. Cubellis' homerooms; your child will receive additional ELA materials along with the school supply bag. 
*If you do need a device, fill out the waiver mailed to you in your welcome packet and bring it to distribution day.
AUGUST 26, 2020:
*Accelerated Virtual Meet & Greet with Mrs. Reider & Mr. Cubellis (letter previously mailed home to students in these classes)

*First Day of School For Students

6th Grade Device & Materials Distribution - DATE CHANGE

6th Grade Device & Materials Distribution has been rescheduled to TUESDAY, AUGUST 25, 2020 from 9:00AM - 2:00PM.  
The distribution will be at the Junior/Senior High School on Hurricane Drive. 

If you do not need a device, please still come to distribution, as all 6th Grade students will receive a bag of school supplies to complete projects and assignments during virtual learning.  Please identify if your child is in Mrs. Reider's or Mr. Cubellis' homerooms; your child will receive additional ELA materials along with the school supply bag.
